Wolves 109, Warriors 108

Seems that there couldn't be better time to publish this blog. A big win in Oakland, against one of the hottest teams in the League. Some would say it has been a bit lucky win, but hey, how much luck have we had all these years. This team is young and can beat any other team in league when is on fire... Let's say something about the game...
First quarter, has perhaps been one of the best quarters of the season for Wolves. Gomes has been red hot, hitting nice jumpers as well as one three pointer. Marko played really well and has got 6 assists after 1st. Other players were also contributing, but we had big problems with stopping Monta. He was destroying both, Marko and Bassy, and until Randy put Correy on him he already had 10pts. At the end of 1st quarter, the result was, unexpectedly, 33-23.
Problems that are following us from game to game, started to recur in 2nd quarter. Poor defence followed by slow and unorganized offence. After 5 mins in second, we found ourselfs behind. Few baskets by Big Al and Gomes we're enough just to not get blown away... Really bad plays with bunch of turnovers, fortunately we had a big lead from the 1st so we were not 10-15 pts behind .
Third quarter again brought great game from our players. A couple of baskets by Jaric and Gomes and we've got the lead back. Warriors continued with poor defence so we took advantage on that end of court and finished the 3rd with 5 point lead.
4th quarter started great. Smith's basket with 10:25 left, which were the first bench points for Wolves(!), extended the lead to 11. After that, again matador defence by our players and Warriors have returned to 2 point deficit with couple of easy open shots. At that time, our team has been in very tough position, with big pressure from home crowd. Who should take the game in his hands? Some experienced player you say? Hmmm, let me think do we have that kind of player...Yes we have! Antoine Walker comes out big and hits a key 3pointer. After that Al hits one layup and one hook shot and we are again up by 7. Is this game over? No, not even close... Jackson hits back-to-back threes and they are back again. With 3:09 left, they tie the game at 103 each. Gomes hits hard turnararound shot, which sets his career high in points(33), but Ellis continues where he stoped in 1st. One huge offensive rebound and second basket with great assist from Harrington. Who do you play now? Marko tried the three pointer and was not even close, but Walker gets big offensive rebound and return the lead to Wolves. GS responds with couple of free throws and once again we are behind them. Will we choke this one, too!? Gomes doesn't agree with that and hits both free throws after being fouled with 54secs left. Dramatic finish, has just begun... Baron and Marko miss three pointers and Warriors, have the ball with 6 secs left. Davis easily passes Marko and tries the layup over Big Al, misses, Harrington has a tip for the win but ball just doesn't fall in and Wolves celebrate victory!

This win made me very happy, especially after Harrington underestimated us after our last game against them, saying that we are worst team in league... Like he don't remembers his career in Hawks. It's interesting that we are playing very well against run'n'gun teams. We've beaten Suns, been close to beating Nuggets and now won against GS in Oakland. Can't wait game against Suns tomorrow. :) Gomes has showed in this game that we should really count on him in future, but our bench has been catastrophic yesterday... Combined for 7pts is very bad, but after all they haven't even played too much. I hope this will improve with Foye's return. All in all, we're now playing best basketball of the season and watch out Heat and Sonics, we'll be ahead of them before all-star. MMW... :D
